  • Travel

Fly to the airport of Split (APU) which is about 6 km from your port of embarkation in Trogir. Split airport is quite small but very busy. A major expansion has been ongoing and due to be completed in 2019.

    Local Travel

You can reserve airport transfers upon your arrival and for your departure. See pricing. You can also take a taxi to the ship at Harbor Trogir or to a hotel in Trogir, approx. 6 km away for ± 350 Kn. Uber is new to the Croatian market. Flat rate from Split airport to all central Split destinations is 225 Kn.
    If you prefer public transportation:
Croatia Airlines Bus meets all regularly scheduled flights to Split. The buses are organized by Pleso Prijevoz and the city stop is at Sv Duje at the southern end of Split port.

    Climate

Please check local conditions before arrival. Coastal weather in Croatia is categorized as Mediterranean. A good website to visit to research regional weather including average high/low temps, average rainfall and more is weatherbase.com.

    Remarks

Electric bikes are included in the tour price. Hybrid (touring) bicycles are available at a discounted price but please note that use of a hybrid touring bike will completely change the difficulty level.

    DOCUMENTS

For US citizens, the US Department of State website is a good source of information. The Country Information tab in the International Travel section provides details about passport validity, blank passport pages required, etc. For our other international clients, please be sure that you research your own country's travel requirements. It is each traveler's responsibility to ensure proper documentation.

*Important note: Beginning July 1, 2021, additional documentation from the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will be required to visit any of the 26 Schengen-member countries for tourism, business, medical, or transit. Skill Level

This is always the most difficult thing to do, rate a tour. This electric bike tour is offered on ships designed to accommodate as many electric bikes as passenger capacity. The majority of participants on this e bike tour will be using an electric bike. For them, this tour could be easy, moderate, or difficult, depending on level of assistance they utilize! For those who will be riding a hybrid touring bike, you will work harder to keep up with the group on electric bikes. Do note for every participant, this tour assumes that you are a cyclist, that you ride often, that you have good command of your bicycle, and good balance. An electric bike is heavier than a non-electric bike. You will traverse heights of between 200 and 500 m with daily distances ranging between 18 to 55 km through mountainous terrain. Tours can be completed without any time constraints. Participants will need to master long and steep climbs which present little to no problem with the use of electric bikes. Streets are mostly asphalted with little traffic. At times, with your guides approval, you may be able to ride self-guided but there are no guarantees.

The biking was delightful and the electric assist was fun. Unless you are used to and competent riding long and steep hills, do not order a regular bike. With the E-bikes you'll still get plenty of exercise and for more you can stay in the lowest mode, but unless you are a super-biker, don't opt for the regular bikes.

The trip was amazing. The only negative were. Lunch on the boat was over the top. (it was more like a dinner), I would have preferred a lighter fare. One day of the biking was on a VERY busy road. I am not sure if there were other route but it was definitely NOT safe. The guide needed much stricter riding rules in this situation if it could not be avoided. On a positive note the country is safe and beautiful. The tour included a perfect balance of riding, touring and exploring the sea.

Hi M. Towle - Thanks for your feedback! On all of our tours, our goal is always to find the quietest and most scenic route, avoiding the main roads at all costs. However, at some points there is no way around cycling a few kilometers along a main road (although never a highway!) These stretches of road are clearly communicated and the guide does his best to separate the group into smaller groups so that cars can pass safely.
In any case we've put this tour under the microscope and we will make sure that if there is a possible alternative to this stretch of road, that it will be used!
        Thanks again!!

We just completed this tour and enjoyed it BUT there are some caveats to be aware of. We did not follow the itinerary as described. We did not tour Nin even though it was listed in the itinerary. We rode on some very busy roads/thoroughfares which were not fun. The map was not an accurate depiction of what we actually did on the mainland. That part was very disappointing. The food was great... The e-bikes were very heavy but the only way to do this tour. There were some VERY long hills to climb. Our guides were good, especially Bjoran. Just be aware that the itinerary changes and that seems to be at the whim of the boat captain, guides and weather. I was really looking forward to seeing Nin and spending a little more time in Sibenik. The boat was very nice and generally comfortable. Igor, the bartender and waiter, was fabulous. I'd rate the trip as a 3.5-4 star.

Just returned from E bike trip on the Meldoy
I was totally impressed with the trip as a whole. The organization punctuality and attention to detail was superb.Considering my son and I were the only North Americans which in itself is a bonus to talk and socialize with people from different countries we never felt left out. . The week went by too quickly. . The staff was cordial and helpful , meals and cuisine were excellent . Would recommend this trip for individuals who enjoy moderate luxury yet require some organized quality activity . E bike is well worth the money and is a bonus.

Croatia is a wonderful area and the ship was very nice. The guides were just "ok" - they seemed distracted and not committed to the guests. Food on the boat could have been a higher level.

2013 trip was on Harmonia. Marko & Stefaan the guides were great. Food was excellent. Crew was excellent.

Only disappointment was that we had a deck cabin midships which was adjacent to the galley on the Romantica three of the seven nights, so no view. There was no AC and the room was 25C. Couldn't open the windows due to smokers and people/noise on Romantica before 1am. Romantica blocked the breeze anyway so opening the windows didn't do any good. Quite unpleasant sleeping. The guides did not have a solution when asked!

Also, guides said bike locks were not needed and never showed us how to use the locks. To boot, the asked that the e-bike keys be left in.
