*All distances are approximate. The itinerary is subject to change due to changing wind and weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances having to do with mooring requirements, etc.

DAY 1 (Saturday): Trogir – Rogoznica by boat
Individual arrival to the picturesque port of Trogir. Check-in is between 2 - 2:30pm. At 3 pm, the boat departs and we cruise to Rogoznica, a village on a small island connected to the mainland by a dam. Covered with pine forests that reach the sea, this island is a paradise.

DAY 2 (Sunday):  Rogoznica – Primošten – Šibenik – Skradin, 13 miles (20 km)
In the morning, you will cycle to Primošten. From there the boat takes us to the city of Šibenik to the spot where the Krka River flows into the Adriatic Sea. After visiting the famous cathedral and the lovely old town we set off again. On the cruise, we pass the lower course of the river Krka following the river bend until we reach Skradin. In the port of the village, we spend our night.

DAY 3 (Monday):  National Park of Krka -  Šibenik – Vodice, 8 miles (15 km)
The magnificent port of Skradin is today’s starting point for our excursion by and boat and on foot to Krka National Park and it's famous waterfalls. In the early afternoon, your boat takes you to the harbor of Vodice, a well-known holiday town on the Dalmatian mainland. From here, you mount the bicycles again for a short round trip.

DAY 4 (Tuesday): Vodice - Island of Murter - Nature Park Telašćica, 16 miles (27 km)
In the morning we cycle from Vodice to Murter Island that is connected to the mainland by the lift bridge at Tisno. We pass the bridge and cycle along the waterfront, passing by two very old coastal villages until we reach a small landing place from where the boat takes us on a cruise through the National Park Kornati, an archipelago in crystal clear water which is known for its rich aquatic realm. Our destination is the Nature Park Telašćica. In the evening a walk through the park leads us along the stunning cliffs of the island. The famous Silver Lake - known by movies of Winnetou - is also located in the Nature Park. Overnight stay on the Island of Dugi Otok.

DAY 5 (Wednesday): Island of Dugi Otok – Zadar, 19 miles (30 km)
After breakfast and a short crossing to Sali, your bike tour leads along a virtually traffic-free and panoramic road. We ride clear across the entire island. During the ride, we’re treated to countless unforgettable vistas of the islands in the deep blue sea. We meet our ship for a crossing to Zadar, which, for centuries, was the political, cultural and spiritual center of Dalmatia. Our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lanes of the lively old center. 3,000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia and also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.

DAY 6 (Thursday): Islands of Ugljan and Pašman – Island of Zlarin, 21 miles (35 km)
During breakfast, the boat crosses to the island of Ugljan at the channel of Zadar. Today we have a lot of time to explore both the islands of Ugljan and Pašman by bicycle, which were recently connected by a bridge. We cycle along the east coast, with it's beautiful views to the mainland and the ocean. Afterward, our boat cruises to the coral island of Zlarin.

DAY 7 (Friday): Island of Solta, approx. 9 miles (15 km)
In the morning, the boat will take you to the island of Solta. Olive, fig trees and farmland surround the streets. The sweet smell of lavender and rosemary will follow you throughout the day's ride around this tranquil island until we reach the village of Grohote. During midday, we take our last cruise and return to Trogir.   In the afternoon, you can stroll through the narrow alleys of the Old town, protected as a World Heritage Site, and devote your attention to the cultural side of the trip. Trogir is an ancient island settlement dating back to the Hellenistic period and has been embellished by successive rulers with many fine public and domestic buildings and fortifications. Its beautiful Romanesque churches are complemented by the outstanding Renaissance and Baroque buildings from the Venetian period.

DAY 8 (Saturday): Departure from Trogir
Your Croatia bike trip will come to an end after breakfast at 9 am.

Awesome trip. Biking was way harder than "moderate", but otherwise was great!

There were so many memorable parts to the trip - from the hardworking, entertaining crew to the scenery to the great care given by the guides. Overall an amazing trip that offered great value, challenging rides, history and fun!

The quality of hybrid bike was a piece of junk compared with the bike I used in Amsterdam with a group was much better quality two years ago. I would have enjoyed cycling if the bike was in a better quality. The food was too heavy. Other than that, the scenery was beautiful.

A bike and barge trip is the perfect way for active people to tour Croatia. The biking was challenging, but doable, and the scenery made up for it all. Our guides were experts, and had our safety and enjoyment foremost in their minds. We thoroughly enjoyed the tours of the various cities, towns and parks provided when not biking. The meals on the boat were gourmet, and the accommodations quite comfortable. The crew treated us with the utmost respect and caring, plus, we got to meet lovely people from all over the world. This was one of our most memorable and fun vacations!

I've done three "Bikes and Barges" trips that I booked through Tripsite, This was far and away the best one. The advance preparations made by the staff of the Romantica were excellent. The two directors were competent, knowledgeable, and friendly. The meals were balanced and well prepared and served in ample portions (truth be told more than ample!). The bike rides were well planned and beautiful. This was truly a delightfully awesome experience. Highly recommended.

Croatia was beautiful. Every time you thought you saw the most beautiful place we would go to another more spectacular place. Bikes were good esp the e bike for my wife who had asma. The guides did everything they could to make the trip special. The boat stopped lots for swim breaks. Food on board was very good. Our server Klatko made the meals special. The only negative is that all the staff smoked as most people in Croatia. I would recommend a double room on upper deck for more privacy and to get away from staff smoking. All in all I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone.

With only 16 cabins on the boat, it was easy to interact with everyone, creating a fun and intimate multicultural biking experience.

The scenery and the weather made this a wonderful trip-- however, the participants were unusually amiable and everyone got along famously. One of the waiters was a real clown and kept us all entertained at mealtimes. The chef and his assistant put out some amazing food, and so much of it! The bikes were probably as good a fit as possible on this kind of trip. Our guides were great-- one wouldn't have known this was the end of their season. I can't think of anything that might have been improved upon. Good work!

The guides Dora and Marcus were great. The ship Romantica, and its crew were wonderful and the food was more than I expected. There was only one day where the riding seemed a bit short and not a great route but it was still a great view when we got to the top of the too steep hill. The whole trip was definitely a great experience and the scenery and other passengers on the trip couldn't have been better.

This was our first "bike and sail" and we found it quite different than the "bike and barge" tours we have done in the past. There was less cycling (cycling distances were less than advertised and usually only in the morning or afternoon) and more cruising. However, cruising among the islands in a beautifully clear sea was an unexpected highlight... and often a welcome break after a morning or afternoon of moderate cycling! One hour walking tours before dinner at destination sites were interesting and appropriate.
The Croatian Coast and countryside is absolutely beautiful with it's small towns and marinas in every cove. Swimming off the boat was such a fabulous experience!
The Romantica was a lovely clean sailing yacht with good amenities. The rating scale for the "bike and sailing yachts" however is different than the "bike and barge" boats; Romantica was rated as "Comfort Plus" but we would consider it on the Read more… lower end of that scale (relative to some of the other "bike and barge" boats we have been on). We recognize that "you get what you pay for" and the Romantica was in our view good value.
The-food was outstanding - with 4 course lunches and dinners that were delicious!
In summary, a great trip - and we look forward to another "bike and sail" next fall.

  • Sandra M. 3 years ago

It was a great trip. The Romantica is a newer ship and therefore the rooms were a little bigger and the bathrooms comfortable. The two guides, Marko and Ivana, were excellent. The bike riding was good, although not many miles, maybe 90 over 6 days. One thing that was also different is all 32 guests rode together with the two guides. This had it's benefits, but for avid bikers like us, we spend a lot of time waiting. The food on the boat was outstanding, including many local dishes made with fresh ingredients.

The short 13 km bike trip to Vodice was not scenic and seemed not a good choice for biking at all. Otherwise, the biking was great, scenic, nice villages, good stopping places. Thanks for a great week, great crew, great food and great company of others!

I've just returned from a wonderful trip, the National parks of Dalmatia. We had a fabulous time. Our two guides, Ivana and Ivan, were marvellous. Captain Tomo and his crew were top notch. The food was amazing. My only small criticism was the distance biked every day. Our longest day was 25Kms and I would have loved longer and perhaps slower days. I felt the distance was too short and we biked too fast. Otherwise, I loved every second of our Croatian adventure!!

What a fantastic trip. The boat, and crew were great. We had lots of fun with them (Dino) and the tour guides (Marko & Lucy). Riding in and out of the beautiful Croatian Harbors was the best. There is NOTHING I can find to say that wasn't above and beyond our expectations. The bikes were good, the food delicious, the crew & tour guides exceptional. Meeting people from all over the world, priceless! Do not hesitate to take this trip!!!

Did this trip late August 2015. It is my third bike/boat trip with Tripsite and they are not kidding when they call it spectacular! The views are incredible. The boat was beautiful and the crew took such excellent care of us. I loved all the different Adriatic towns with their history and ancient buildings. The cycling was great and guides were friendly and helpful. I especially loved it when the boat would pull into a cove for a swim break. Thanks for another great experience!

The Dalmatia coast is breathtaking. This is a hidden gem. Cycling/boat trips are the only way to immerse yourself in the history/culture of a country. We've done a few, Croatia is remains at the top of the list.

We have taken a few trips with Tripsite and enjoyed them immensely, but this one stands out as a diamond among the jewels. The adriatric is blissful, the scenery spectacular, and the efficiency and friendliness of the tour guide and staff were exceptional. The blend of cycling, old town tours, and nature walks was perfect. Thank you SO much.
