Skill Level

It is difficult to give the plus tours a difficulty level. If you are booking this tour with an electric bike, the tour will be easy. If you are booking this tour with a hybrid bike, it could be moderate to difficult. It is assumed that you already have a level of fitness acquired from steady cycling. The tours will traverse heights of between 200 and 500 m with daily distances ranging between 20 to 55 km through mountainous terrain. Tours can be completed without any time-constraints. Participants will need to master long and steep climbs which present no problem with the use of the E-bikes. Streets are mostly asphalted with little traffic. You can choose each day to cycle on your own with the maps and information provided or to join the two tour guides and group. This tour is designed primarily as a guided group trip. After prior agreement with our tour guides and the selection of a suitable route, you may be able to cycle self-guided.

    Day 3: Vis Island, 20 mi./32 km
Day 4: Island of Korcula, 39 mi. (62 km)
    Day 5: Brac Island, 17 mi./ 27km
    Day 6: Omiš - Split, 19 or 27 mi./25 or 44 km)
    Day 7: Šolta - Trogir, 12 mi. (19 km)
    Day 8: Disembarkation at Trogir

*All distances are approximate. The above-planned itinerary is subject to change due to changing wind and weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances having to do with mooring requirements, etc.

DAY 1: Trogir - Hvar Island, by boat
Individual arrival to Split airport which is about 5 km/3 mi. away from the harbor of Trogir. Check-in on the boat is between 2 - 2:30 pm. The ship leaves Trogir around 3 pm. Stari Grad is the second largest settlement on the Island of Hvar and well known for its important harbor. Overnight stay in Stari Grad.

    DAY 2: Islands of Hvar and Vis, 12.5 mi./20 km + 15 mi./22 km
Today’s first cycle tour leads along the almost traffic free pass road through nicely set small villages. After breakfast in Stari Grad we do a second cycle tour to the quaint harbors of Jelsa and Vrboska. Afterward return to Stari Grad, which has become a Mecca for artists and art lovers in the past few years. A second cycle tour leads to the island's capital, Hvar, where you visit the magnificent Renaissance Square and enjoy the view at the Spanish Fortress which is situated high above the city. Hop on board again and cross over to Vis Island at about 6 pm. Overnight stay on Vis.

DAY 3: Island of Vis, 20 mi./32 km
Vis is the furthermost island from mainland Croatia. A Greek colony called Issa has been on the island 2,300 years ago. Due to its strategic location it was a military zone until 1995 and prohibited for foreign tourists. Today we have the opportunity to explore the lovely island by bicycle. Alternatively, there is the possibilty to participate in a three-hour jeep tour around the island (about 35€). After cycling the boat takes us to the Island of Korčula. Overnight stay in Vela Luka.

DAY 4: Island of Korcula, 39 mi./62 km
Today you discover the island of Korcula by bicycle and enjoy a lunch break in one of the local restaurants. The calmness and remoteness of the vast vegetation and cypress gardens have given the shape to one of the most beautiful Dalmatian island's. Your cycle tour leads via the village of Blato, like Rome, built on seven hills, along a pass road across Pupnat bay and finally to Korcula town where you have time to take a walk through the wonderful old town with its narrow alleys. Overnight stay in Korcula town.

DAY 5: Island of Brac, 17 mi. (27 km)
Transfer to the island of Brač, which is famous for its bright white marble, which was used for the White House in Washington and the Reichstag in Berlin. After a long swim stop and lunch break, you start your cycling tour from Sumartin, which will lead you via Selca to the picturesque Pučišća.

    DAY 6: Omiš - Split, 16 or 27 mi./25 or 44 km
After a short crossing to Omiš, you cycle through the valley of the Cetina River which is surrounded by steep rocks. After 11 mi./18 km you have the option to take part on a four hours rafting tour on the Cetina River (not included in the tour price) and afterwards a small cycle tour of about 4 mi./7 km back to the boat - or to expand the cycling tour (no rafting) to 27 mi./44 km along small side roads and versatile landscapes until reaching Omiš and its pirate castles. In the afternoon the ship takes you to Split. The old town of Split, built adjoining the famous palace of the Roman Caesar Diocletian, is a world heritage site. Overnight stay in Split.

     DAY  7: Šolta - Trogir, 12 mi. (19 km)
After a short crossing to Stomorska, on the island of Solta, you depart for the last bicycle tour. Walled fields, numerous olive groves, and carob and fig trees line the road. The spicy smell of lavender and rosemary accompany you during your tour around the island. In Maslinica, you will load the bikes and enjoy the last crossing back to Trogir. In Trogir you have enough time to visit the old city- a World Heritage Site. Traditionally the last evening before disembarkation is spent cheerfully with guests, crew and guides.

    DAY 8:  Disembarkation in Trogir
Your Croatia bike tour will end after breakfast, individual departure.

Please note:  Tour operator reserves the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions and when required by organizational necessities. Minor changes are possible in 2019!

I biked this tour in June of 2016, and it was absolutely the greatest. I have done a lot of bike touring on my own in the past with a tent and my own gear, and was looking for a way to share the experience with my dad that was a little more accessible than the way I'm used to traveling. That being said, I was a little nervous about what type of equipment might be available. I was nursing a hip injury, so we both ended up getting e-bikes, and I would absolutely recommend that to anyone. You could switch the power completely off and ride it as a regular bike if you wanted, but if you needed the help, it was really nice to have! The best part of the e-bikes is that it makes some of the most beautiful riding accessible to people who are not necessarily bikers. When I travel alone, the trip we did was about as challenging an itinerary as I like to do, but at 39, I was the youngest on our trip by far, and everyone was able to easily manage and still enjoy themselves even on Read more… the toughest hills. Since we were on small islands the entire time, the traffic was very minimal and the riding was absolutely picturesque.
Our ship, the Melody, couldn't have been better, and far surpassed my expectations both in the quality of the ship, and in the amount of room. We had friendly and knowledgeable guides (Tony & Josh) and the food was SO good. Every meal was prepared using fresh and local ingredients and the ship staff did a wonderful job of trying to introduce the guests to local recipes, telling us a bit about each dish before we ate. It couldn't have been any better all around, and I am booking again on the same trip.
The one recommendation I would have for anyone going on this tour, is bring some laundry detergent some and clothespins. We did our own laundry and hung it out on the deck.

There is a reason why the default bicycle on the Southern Dalmatia Plus trip is an e-assist model; the islands of Croatia are very hilly! The e-assist made it easier for me to stop on an uphill, take photos of fellow riders or the amazing scenery, get re-started easily, and make it to the top without holding up the whole group. Everyone, from the guides and crew on board to the locals in cafes and restaurants, was very friendly, helpful, and willing to speak English for the benefit of us uni-lingual folks!

Food was ok but not great. A little more variety and quality with a little less quantity would go a long ways to correcting this.

Croatia/Dalmatian Coast and islands are a beautiful vacation destination that we highly recommend. However the roads, lack of a shoulder, narrow streets, and lack of safety make it a very difficult and unnerving biking destination. Bikers need to fully understand that this area is not bike friendly.

        Hi Robert!
Thanks for sharing this feedback. You are right that parts of the tour the shoulder and streets can be narrow. This is very common in this part of Europe. I can assure you that we take safety very seriously and work with our local partners to provide cycling routes with your safety in mind. You will also find the terrain and difficulty rating described on this tour page. Both should be taken into consideration when evaluating this tour. Glad you had an enjoyable and safe trip!

Electric bikes, the black ones, were excellent. The food was a bit disappointing.
The guides were excellent. Cabin was very nice.

I unfortunately had a back spasm during the trip and needed to be on land half way through the trip, so I had to get off the barge. (Croatia trip) the captain offered to give up his room so I could stay upstairs- so nice- but I needed to be on stable land. ( weather was a bit rough) the entire trip was so nice- would have loved to finish the trip. The crew was wonderful!

Some issues with our room. We booked a room with two twin beds. We got a room with a double bed and bunk beds. The double bed broke the first night. It actually came apart because a brace had fallen off. Our phone charger was broken while trying to fix the bed. Our door lock malfunctioned locking us out of our room for two hours, and was difficult to use the rest of the trip. We asked for the phone charger to be replaced, but never got an answer.
